第二次世界大戦を舞台にした人気FPSシリーズ最新作『メダルオブオナー ヒーローズ2』が2月14日にエレクトロニック・アーツから発売になります。銃に見立てたWiiリモコンを手に、襲い掛かってくる枢軸軍と対峙します。今回はO.S.S.(アメリカ戦略諜報局)の極秘任務を果たすため、5th Rangersの一員に扮装し、ナチス占領下のフランスに乗り込みます。
MOHシリーズの最大の特徴は細部のディテールまで本物の特徴を忠実に再現するリアルさです。プレイヤーが手にする銃、登場人物の軍服、街の構成まで第二次世界大戦当時を元に完全に再現しています。
メインとなる1人用の「キャンペーンモード」ではナチス占領下のフランスに潜入し、8つのステージでO.S.S.本部から与えられた任務をこなしていきます。各ステージには本部から伝えられた必ず達成しなくてはいけない主要任務と、必ずしも達成しなくても良いものの、連合軍にとって戦略上の優位さを得られるような副次任務が用意されています。全ての主要任務をこなして最終ポイントに辿りつくとクリアです。
各ステージではクリア時に勲章とランクという形で評価が与えられます。勲章はステージ毎のものとゲーム全体で決まるものがあり、「戦場でピストルを使って敵を25人殺害せよ」「ライフルを使って敵を100人殺害せよ」「75%以上の命中率でクリアせよ」といったものを達成することで与えられます。ランクは任務達成率や命中率、殺害率などから決まり、二等兵から大尉まで13ランクがあります。
本作はWiiリモコンとヌンチャクを使って操作を行います。臨場感あふれる戦場の中で、いかにブレずに銃を保持して、冷静な判断で行動できるかが勝負です。また、「Wiiザッパー」に対応していて、こちらでは更にリアルな感触が得られそうです。Wii版では照準の難易度が上がることから、ロックオン機能も追加されています。
ゲームは2月14日発売で通常版が6090円、Wiiザッパー同梱版が7329円です。
